Update to COVID-19 Chairlift Protocols

COVID 19 continues to impact our world and The Club is not exempt. We were notified by the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit (GBH) of a new mandate regarding the protocols for riding chairlifts. This mandate states:

• Only people living in the same household can ride the lift together.

• People who are not in the same household must ride the lift individually in order to ensure the required 2-meter physical distancing.

• Physical distancing in the lift lines is still required - please follow the signage indicating appropriate distancing.

This directive is mandated throughout Southern Ontario and is a significant change from previous direction from GBH.

Our Team along with the other private and public ski areas, including the large public operators and Ontario Snow Resort Association are reviewing the impact this will have on lift operations and will continue discussions with the relevant authorities for the consideration of other protocol options for riding chairlifts.

The biggest impact of this new directive will be on our Alpine Programs. Under these new regulations those within a program will not be able to ride the chairlift together unless they are living in the same household. Our Alpine Programs Team is working hard to ensure a safe and fun winter on hill and working hard to adapt to this new mandate.

The Club's Management and our Covid-19 Committee will continue working alongside the Escarpment Clubs regarding this new directive and will keep Members informed of any developments.
