A Message from your President: Guest Policy Update

Dear Members,

As we communicated to the Membership at the AGM and Town Hall events, our policies around COVID will need to be fluid, as we try to balance restrictive measures around chairlift protocols, limited terrain opening, health regulations and the Membership experience. Please know that your Board of Directors and the Management of the Club have kept the health and safety of our Members and Staff as our top priority. Every decision has been made through this lens and we will continue to keep this priority front and center as we move through the season.

We have done our best to balance this need with the overall Member experience and for that reason, have continued to solicit and review member feedback.

In response to my email on December 17th regarding our guest policy for the start of the season, we received valuable feedback that warranted a review of the policy. As a result, the Board and Management have revised the guest policy as follows:

Between December 19th and December 26th - children of badge holders may use or purchase a guest ticket. This is traditionally a quiet period at the club and we believe we can accommodate Member children during this pre-Christmas week without compromising the health and safety of our community.

As Christmas Camps begin on December 27th and 28th we want to remain mindful of how traffic and capacity will converge at the Club. As such, we are requesting your patience as we limit skiing to only badge holders on these two days. With restrictive chairlift policies directed by Grey Bruce health unit and limited terrain open we need to limit skiing to badge holders so we can accommodate our Program participants as safely as possible. Staff and Volunteers and their families will also be included in this restriction. The Board and management will reassess the guest policy after these two days and communicate next steps to the membership on December 28th.

Please note, we have continued to delicately advocate for a review of the current chairlift policies with our local health unit in an effort to increase our uphill capacity. Any changes to this policy will be considered as we reassess our capability to welcome guests to the club. We need to be sure that the number of skiers is manageable and safe for everyone.

Our guest policy will need to continue to reflect the changing circumstances at the club including the opening of new terrain and the optimum capacity that will ensure we adhere to health and safety regulations and provide the best possible experience for our members.

We appreciate your patience as we face such unusual times and conditions. This exceptional Club of ours is all about family (immediate and extended) and, like you, we cannot wait for a return to normal when all family, friends and guests can enjoy the Club.

Very Sincerely,

Nick Hamilton
President, Georgian Peaks Board of Directors
